Clear Image 94-96 Impala SS Tri-Y Headers

Clear Image TRI-Y headers are 1 5/8" primaries into 2" secondary into 2 1/2 finals. All tubing is 14-gauge steel .083 thick. Gasket-less ball socket couplings are used. Flanges are 3/8" "D" port and CNC Laser cut. Box end wrench can be used on every bolt. The install time for the TRI-Y headers will range from four to six hours, depending on your mechanical ability. Only basic tools are required.

With "TRI-Y" design headers, the primary tubes are paired in a 4-into-2 and P-into-l formation. This increases the cylinder scavenging effect and improves engine breathing by utilizing the exhaust velocity of one cylinder to help the exhaust velocity of another.

Currently the TRI-Y headers bolt directly onto the heads with no modification to emissions or alternator brackets. A box end wrench can be used on every header bolt. The block does NOT have to be lifted for installation. Removal of the starter is NOT required. These headers fit better than the factory manifolds and have no clearance problems or heat related problems. You will NOT have to use heat shielding of any kind.

The TRI-Y headers come with all hardware and gaskets required for installation. The converters bolt to the headers and cat-back exhaust via gasketless ball-socket flanges. The converters reside directly across from one another on opposite sides of the transmission housing.

The 2 1/2" small body converter, (which is the one used with the TRI-Y system) flow 396 cfm (cubic feet per minute). We chose Random Technologies for their superior workmanship, reliable customer service, quality materials and willingness to work with our company to fabricate converters specifically for our custom headers systems.

The 1996 Impala SS uses four oxygen sensors. Two before the converters and two after. The Random Tech converters are available in configurations for both the 94/95 model years and the 96 at no cost difference. The stock converters may not be used with the TRI-Y headers due to the extended length of the header tubes. There is a space restriction on the drivers side, so modification to the stock converters would be required.

We also have off-road hook-up pipes that replace the cats and bolt to the headers and cat-back exhaust via ball-flange sockets. (For off-road use ONLY!).

Coatings

Cermachrome is a ceramic coating which mimics a chrome finish. It is rated to 1300° Fahrenheit and reduces radiated heat under the hood tremendously, as well as improving scavenging, (rate and method of exhaust gas flow through the header tubes). Cermachrome contains aluminum flake which is polished to allow the polished metallic finish.

Satin ceramic is also available and is rated to 2000° Fahrenheit, due to the absence of metal.
